Youth Arts Month
Youth Arts Month had a great opening at the State Capitol on March 4, 2008 thanks to the cooperation and efforts of the arts coalition CreateOK, Oklahoma Music Education Association, and the Center For Arts Education at the University of Central Oklahoma. Those in attendance heard great music, saw wonderful dancing, and heard interesting speakers. Visual images of student art work were projected during the entire program which ran from 9 am until 12 noon.
The State Level Elementary Art Showcase hung in State Superintendent Sandy Garrett's office gallery at the State Capitol Complex all during March. See the YAM Gallery on this web site for images from this show.
Frances Williams, our Youth Arts Month Chair, would really like to receive any photos, newspaper articles, reports on money spent and other news about the YAM celebrations you held in your school or community. She is putting together a book which is used to report to the national office of Youth Arts Month and is judged at the national level.
